The Mediating Effect of Affect Regulation Ability in the Relationship between Test Stress and Somatization in Middle School Students

Abstract

|
This study analyzes how test stress affects physicalization and emotional control functions among middle school students. The first analysis analyzed the relationship of test stress, physical symptoms, and emotional control among middle school students, and the results showed a significant correlation between test stress and emotional control. Second, analysis of whether emotional control refers to the relationship between a middle school student's test stress and physical symptoms confirmed that the emotional control ability has a mediated effect with the test stress of a middle school student and the physicalization symptoms. A survey was conducted to 450 first and second graders attending middle schools located in Yongin. As measuring tools, the examination stress scale, K-CSI, and emotional regulation scale were employed, and the data collected went through statistical processing with SPSS 18.0K through Cronbach's ¥á, frequency analysis, average, standard deviation, Pearson¡¯s correlation, and Sobel test.
